I also got these crazy cute purple sparkle spangle buttons for the dress. I had been contemplating making some out of resin, but the new molds I ordered have yet to arrive. These were the perfect purple and I am very lucky I found such a good match for my project.
Sparkle Spangle Buttons
The dress turned out exactly as I had pictured it in my mind. The only thing I would have done differently would be to make a muslin. I have not had a lot of experience sewing garments with a button up front and I overcompensated by going up from my usual size to avoid any possible gaping. I had to make a last minute dart in the back of the bodice to get a better fit, but I am still happy with how it turned out. The dingleballs and ric rac trim look real swell!
Complete, Project Dingleball!
Sunday, I decided to wear the dress out to the Reynolds Alberta Museum, in Wetaskiwin, AB. They offer exhibits on transportation, aviation, agriculture and industry. Sassy Boyfriend, my friend Shelleycat and I embarked on our trip early Sunday. I really enjoy the museum, but I must say that I wanted to go specifically to go for a ride in a 1939 open cockpit bi-plane. I had attempted to go for the last 4 birthdays, and the weather was always crumby. And every year I regret not being able to go up on a high flying adventure. I went up in the plane with Shelleycat and we had a blast. I am so glad we were able to have this experience and we already have plans to go again next summer.

It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday! Now my feet are back on the ground and its back to work in the laboratory. I just started reorganizing the fabric stash, and found some beautiful cotton-silk blend floral fabric I purchased to make a blouse. Going to start sketching out some ideas for it tonight!
